The San Diego Padres began in the Pacific Coast league in 1936, beginning their rich historic success with Hall of Fame Ted Williams in his rookie season. 1969 was the Padres' first year in Major League baseball, packing in the stands but having limited success at Jack Murphy Stadium. After several disappointing seasons which were to be expected from a young team, the San Diego Padres finally found success in 1984, winning the division title and getting their first World Series appearance. They currently play at PETCO Park and have won two division titles since moving there in 2004.
